COP26 @ UCC
This November, 196 countries of the world will meet in Glasgow at COP26 to negotiate the next stage of an agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees.
To mark the importance of COP26 in the global effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, on Oct 26th, from 17:00 – 20:00, UCC will host a role-playing version of the negotiations to understand the challenges and to see if a global agreement can be reached.
Participants will adopt negotiating positions for different country groupings and have the opportunity to experience first-hand the challenges of reaching a global agreement on emissions reductions targets that will be tested with climate modelling software.
We are looking for students (undergraduate and postgraduate) as country negotiators.
If you are interested in participating in this unique event, please register here. Participants will be selected on a first-come basis if interest exceeds venue capacity.
This event is being jointly organised by the President’s WG on COP26, UCC Green Campus, and a number of UCC Student Societies.
If you have any questions about this evening please e-mail Fionn Rogan.
