REGINA-MSP host training on Marine Spatial Planning

MaREI together with staff from the Marine Planning Policy and Legislation team from the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications, hosted representatives from other Government Departments, the Maritime Area Regulatory Authority, all three of our Regional Assemblies and the Irish Naval Service to join us for a training event on MSP as part of the EU-funded REGINA-MSP CEREMA project.

Participants took part in the MSP Challenge Game facilitated by Dr Heather Ritchie from Queen’s University Belfast. There were presentations on Ireland’s implementation of MSP to date, coupled with opportunities for questions and open discussions.

The day finished with a tour of the Lir NOTF by Jimmy Murphy and the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) by Paul Hegarty, who conveyed their respective in-depth offshore energy and maritime logistics & training expertise, highlighting additional critical considerations for marine planning.
