Up Cycling!
The Glucksman and Cork Midsummer Festival present new public artworks highlighting the importance of cycling.
Up Cycling! is an ambitious new trail of public artworks that runs across Cork city. The temporary artworks have been created for Cork Midsummer Festival to showcase the importance and joy of cycling in urban spaces.
Commissioned by the Glucksman and curated by Tadhg Crowley, the project is a collaboration between the artist and Cork Cycling Campaign that involved a public consultation which helped shape the design and message behind the artworks. The artworks also feature haikus written by Fionn Rogan, Senior Research Fellow in MaREI, UCC. These mobility haikus document the lived experience of a commuting cyclist.
The artworks are on display at 6 sites across Cork City:
- Western Road, Mardyke
- Mardyke Walk
- South Mall
- Alfred Street
- Marina Market
- The Marina
