Empowering communities for sustainable decision-making: A-AAGORA’s contribution at Environ 2025

MaREI’s Emma Verling from University College Cork, participated in the Environ 2025 Conference in Dublin, where she presented a groundbreaking paper titled: The A-A Agora Project in Co. Cork: Combining Community Engagement, Volunteer-Led Action, and Science to Support Future Decision Making.

This presentation highlighted the innovative work being done in Co. Cork, where community engagement and scientific research intersect to drive informed decision-making for environmental sustainability. The A-AAGORA – Atlantic Arctic Agora project empowers local communities to take action, with volunteers playing a crucial role in bridging science and everyday practice.

The conference, a joint initiative by the Environmental Science Association of Ireland ESAI and the University College Dublin, was an incredible opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and organizations.
