Dr Ariel Macaspac Hernandez is a researcher at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability (IDOS) & University of Duisburg-Essen, Bonn, Germany. 

He is the author of “Taming the Big Green Elephant: Setting in Motion the Transformation Towards Sustainability”.

“Understanding global transformation to sustainability is a colossal task. In this talk I will outline some of the tools for taming “the Big Green Elephant” that is the transition to sustainability. I will summarise the various narratives on sustainability, review the possible dynamics of whole of system transformation, outline the tools such as models, scenarios and case studies we use, and ask if the consensual knowledge currently guiding policy decisions on sustainability needs to be fundamentally rethought.”
