MaREI Research Team at NUIG selected as a finalist in the Excellence in Energy Research and Innovation category in the SEAI Energy Awards
MaREI’s Sustainable & Resilient Structures Research Group based at the Ryan Institute at NUI Galway has been nominated as a finalist for the SEAI Energy Awards in the Excellence in the Energy Research and Innovation category for their work as world leaders in testing of tidal energy turbine blades.
Some of the Galway research facility projects have included testing the ‘Largest load ever on a tidal energy turbine blade – the weight of 10 double decker buses‘ and the Marinet2 Project and it’s ‘Sustainable Marine’s New Tidal Turbine Rotors pass ‘20-year Test” in collaboration with SCHOTTEL Hydro.
