OVERVIEW

Dr. Chantal Basurto joined the International Energy Research Centre (IERC) as postdoctoral researcher in September 2023. Previously she collaborated with research groups in the built environment domain in Australia and Switzerland. Key concepts for her research include energy efficiency, façade technologies for daylighting and solar control strategies, integrated performance assessment for balancing conflicting goals. Her research has focused on investigating the impact of using advanced fenestration systems in high performance buildings, aiming to maintain a comfortable environment indoors, as well as to reduce the energy consumption for lighting, heating, and cooling. She has also investigated the implementation of control systems and integrated control strategies in working environments, aiming to optimize the system’s performance by considering the occupants preferences. Her most recent research interest includes exploring methods and technologies to achieve an interior luminous environment that would benefit the occupant’s health and well-being. Currently, she is also involved in research projects that investigate diverse ways to increase energy efficiency, including the management and storage of thermal energy in residential buildings.
