OVERVIEW

Haley is a postdoctoral researcher at MaREI working under the GOMOREUS project. Haley’s research background includes work on thermal fish biology and ecology, specializing in biologging of tunas and basking sharks.

CURRENT ACTIVITIES

Haley works on the GOMOREUS project, which aims to deliver a set of harmonised and unified evidence-based guidance, based on European best practice for the management of underwater noise to ensure ORE development in Ireland is compliant with EU legal obligations for the management of underwater noise.

BACKGROUND

Haley graduated from Oxford Brookes University with a BSc. in Biology. Her MSc at the University of Exeter focused on basking shark distribution and overlap with anthropogenic stressors such as fishing. Haley did her PhD at Trinity College Dublin where she researched the thermal biology and ecology large fish species including bluefin tuna and shark species. Haley has over a decade of experience biologging with large fish species and working in marine conservation in the northeast Atlantic. Haley joins UCC as a postdoctoral researcher at MaREI working under the GOMOREUS project.
