OVERVIEW 

Katharina Gessinger is a PhD Student for the School of Law and MaREI, University College Cork. She is part of the interdisciplinary research project “Co-existence and Co-location in shared island Marine governance” (CoCoMar).

BACKGROUND

Her educational background is in law. She completed the First German State Examination in Law and the LLM Marine and Maritime Law at UCC, Ireland, with the thesis ‘Enhancing Marine Protection: Between Shipping and Nature Conservation in the Trilateral Wadden Sea’.

Her main areas of interest are public international and EU law, with a particular interest in marine and maritime law.
