OVERVIEW
Weipeng Xie is a PhD student from China in the Energy Policy and Modelling Group at University College Cork, under the supervision of Prof. Hannah Daly and Paul Deane. My research focuses on modelling negative emissions technologies (NETs) for long-term net-zero or negative emissions pathways.
CURRENT ACTIVITIES
His current activities include reviewing NETs in ESMs, mainly focusing on BECCS and direct air capture and storage (DACCS).
BACKGROUND
He finished his master’s degree in Sustainable Energy at UCC, and focused on the role of biomass with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) in Ireland’s energy system transition in his master’s thesis.
