TEDxGalway is back for its 4th year in the renowned Town Hall Theatre with impressive, captivating and inspiring speakers. The City of the Tribes sparks an air of excitement as we celebrate community and intellect, amplifying the cultural ambition of the City, delighting our audience with entrancing, and thought-provoking speakers.
The line-up of speakers includes MaREI researcher Dr Rory Monaghan on the topic: Green Hydrogen – A Galway Solution to a Global Crisis.
Dr Rory Monaghan is a Senior Lecturer and at NUI Galway the Director of the university’s Energy Systems Engineering Programme. He is the Lead Investigator in the Energy Research Centre in the NUI Galway Ryan Institute and a Funded Investigator in MaREI, the Science Foundation Ireland Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine Research. He leads a team of 14 researchers that studies the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate sectors with technologies like green hydrogen, sustainable bioenergy, renewable fuels, and carbon capture utilisation and storage, in projects with partners from around Europe and the world. Rory holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from NUI Galway, and Masters and PhD degrees, also in Mechanical Engineering, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
